In the world- Founded in Paris in 1883 the Alliance française now boasts a network of over 1100 independently run associations, established in 135 different countries, teaching more than 420,000 students, all of which makes the Alliance française the largest French school in the world.
In Canada - From Victoria to Halifax, there are twelve Alliance française cultural centres, and nine of these are language schools.
In Edmonton - The Alliance in a non-profit organization founded in 1947 by Paulette Crévolin. We offer along with language classes a variety of social and cultural activities: lunches, talks, exhibits, workshops, outings, and of course cheese & wine! We also shelter a library where members can borrow books, CDs and DVDs. Our students are automatically granted a membership card to benefit all those services. Think of it as built-in practice: a chance to mix with french speakers!
