Media Resources: A Valuable Tool
All Alliances Françaises (except in Victoria) maintain a media library which provides all the documents necessary to master language and learn about a culture.
Our resource centers regularly receive new documentaries, subtitled movies, audio books, topical documents and informative online resources.
With assistance from the media library, teachers advise students on relevant extra-curricular activities including:
- listening exercises with written support (audiobooks)
- easy-reading books
- films with English or French subtitles
- oral comprehension CD; self-corrected exercises
- online activities and self-taught training.
Students can also find preparation books for official exams (TEF, DELF, DALF, TCF) that can be taken at the Alliance Française.
Opening the Door to the Francophone World
All Alliance Française students are members and have access to the media libraries. They can borrow movies or documentaries (mostly unavailable in Canada), novels, comics, magazines and French-language newspapers.
In some provinces, Alliance Française media libraries provide French-speaking cultural resources, for fun, education and learning about creativity in the French language.
The 9 Alliances Françaises in the Canadian network have been modernizing their document collections and have developed online catalogues. You can see our vast book collection when you visit the website of the nearest AF.
