A propos de l'exposition

Suite au concours international de photographies "Planète Femmes" lancé l'été dernier par la Fondation Alliance Française (Paris), les Alliances Françaises d'Ottawa, de Toronto, d'Halifax et de Moncton ont décidé d'organiser le volet local de ce concours.
Le concours était ouvert à tout photographe amateur, ne vivant pas de son art. Le but était de montrer, en deux photographies, leur représentation des femmes dans la culture canadienne.
Pour chaque concours local, un jury s'est réuni localement pour désigner un gagnant qui représentait l'Alliance Française de sa ville au concours international "Planète Femmes". Malheureusement aucun de candidat canadien n'a été retenu pour le concours international. Les noms des gagnants du concours international du concours Planète Femmes sont disponibles sur le site de la Fondation Alliance Française (Paris).

Les Alliances Françaises du Canada participantes au concours international ont décidé d'organiser une exposition collective présentant les gagnants de leurs concours ainsi que des participants dont les photographies ont été retenues par les jurys pour leur qualité.
Les Alliances Françaises tiennent à remercier les participants de chaque ville, sans qui cette exposition n'aurait pas eu lieu.

About the exhibition

Following the international competition of photography "Planet Women" that was launched last summer by the Fundation Alliance Française based in Paris, the Alliances Françaises of Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax and Moncton decided to organize the local part of the contest.
The contest was opened to any amateur photograph, not earning a living from their art. The aim was to show, in two photographs, their representation of women in the canadian culture.
For each local contest, a local jury gathered to design a winner that would represent the Alliance Française of their city for the "Planet Women" worldwide contest. Unfortunately, none of the canadians applicants was selected the worlwide contest. The names of the international contest are available on the website of the Fondation Alliance Française (Paris).

The Alliances Françaises in Canada that took part into the canadian contest have decided to organize a collective exhibition to present the winners of their contest as well as some shots that hold the jury's attention by their quality.

The Alliances Françaises want to thank every participant that contributed to the contest, and without whom the exhibition wouldn't be possible.

The collective exhibition "Planet Women" will travel in 2012 through the Alliances Françaises of Halifax, Moncton and Toronto with the support of the General Delegation of the Alliance Française in Canada.
