ACCEPTANCE OF THESE GENERAL CONDITIONS

These general sales conditions govern all of the relationship between the Alliance française Ottawa (AFO) and its clients/students with respect to enrolments and organisation of courses/exams, except in the case of express, written derogation. By placing an order and/or enrolling, the client accepts these general conditions. These conditions shall apply exclusively from the enrolment of the client and/or the student.

AGE LIMITS

The student must be 16 years old minimum to be enrolled for a group training with the Alliance française Ottawa. A student younger than 16 years old must provide that a parent or guardian signs an official waiver and that both expressly and irrevocably undertake to accept these general conditions.

PLACEMENT TESTS

In order to ensure that the students are placed in the proper level, a placement test will be required to all new students and to returning students of the AFO who have not participated in a course in 12 months or more.

WAITING LIST

If a class is full/not offered, you can request to be placed on the waiting list. You will be contacted as soon as there is an opening in the original class due to a withdrawal, or when the number of students permits that a new class be created.

METHODS OF PAYMENT

Visa, Mastercard, cheque, debit/interac, direct deposit, cash (exact amount only), mail order. Please make cheque payable to AFRCNC or Alliance Française de la Région de la Capitale Nationale du Canada.

For new students, the AFO will apply a $30 non-refundable registration fee.

A $25 fee will be charged for «non-sufficient funds» cheques.

Training fees are tax deductible according to Canada Revenue Agency; a tax receipt will be issued by AFO once a year in February.

PRIVACY & EMAIL USAGE POLICY

AFO will only ask you to provide the information necessary to process and service your class registration: name, billing address, telephone number, email address, and credit card information. Please note that for security reasons, credit card information is not stored permanently on AFO’s web server.

When you register for a class at AFO, we request that you provide us with an email address and telephone number. We will use this email/number to contact you with important information regarding your class, such as registration confirmation, room & instructor assignment, change in class schedule, cancellations, etc. We will also share this email with your professor so that s/he can send you the notes and homework for each class.

When you register for a class, you are automatically added to our e-news mailing list. You will start receiving our newsletter with information about upcoming events, classes, and AFO programs. We will also send you emails about start of sessions, class satisfaction surveys, and upcoming workshops or classes that may interest you, etc. If you do not wish to receive these emails, simply click on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of these emails and you will be taken off the mailing list.

Transferring between Classes

All transfers from one group class to another group class within the same session must be done within the first week of class and must be approved by AFO. You may submit a written request to info@af.ca

Transfers must be appropriate to one’s level of French as determined by AFO. Any difference in cost resulting from a class transfer must be paid at the time of transfer. When transferring from one class to another—in which the required material differs from the previously registered course—books that are in good condition are exchangeable upon the Language Center’s discretion. No transfers are accepted to another group class after the first week of class or 4 hours of class whichever comes first.
