Our original library has been enriched over the years by various contributions from individuals, libraries and associations. They include a particularly large and generous donation by the Guiot Family.

Today the library of Alliance Française Halifax offers to its members some 6000 books titles, 20 periodical subscriptions, 300 VHS, 80 DVD, 30 CD-ROM, 25 exhibitions of posters, 40 audio CDs, and our collection is still expanding.

Background research is available in our premises (5509 Young Street, Halifax) from either various computer stations. Wireless internet access is also possible for users equipped with laptops.

We follow the Dewey Decimal classification to organize the Media Library.

000 – Computer science, information & general works 100 – Philosophy and psychology 200 – Religion 300 – Social sciences 400 – Language 500 – Science (including mathematics) 600 – Technology 700 – Arts and recreation 800 – Literature 900 – History, geography, and biography

Access to Catalog

You can search for a document and find its detailed information, including its location in the library, by using the catalog on the Internet.
If you are a student or a member of Alliance Française d'Halifax, you will be assigned a login name and you will be able to connect online and view your loans, renew and make reservations online.

You will receive a notification by e-mail for all your reservations, or for late items.
